On Wednesday nights our Percussion Director, Hafez Kotain, teaches a Community Ensemble in West Philadelphia. We had two terms in 2018, each with new and returning students. The ensemble class is small and mighty. The group has been learning written music, traditional rhythms, and solos written by the instructor.
Reflecting upon their experience in the Community Ensemble, participants shared the following:
I had a great semester drumming with all of you! Thank you for your adventurous and joyful spirit.
I have loved being a beginner and learning a new skill. Classes are fun, and it is an honor to learn from someone as masterful and passionate as Hafez Kotain!
