Abu al-Hassan Sahl ibn Malik (born 902)

Little is known about this poet, except for the few muwashshahat we find bearing his name. Among these are the muwashshah found in “Nafh al-Tib” (and chosen by composer Kinan Abou-afach). It is said that the pioneer of the genre Ibn Zuhr, upon listening to this muwashshah for the first time, stood up in praise to inquire about the new poet.

Abū al-Walīd Yūnis al-Khabbāz

Al-Khabbāz is described in Jaysh al-Tawshshīḥ, one of the most authoritative anthologies of the muwashshaḥ form, as a poet of “pure composition.” The selection from his poetry chosen by composer Kinan Abou-afash is a testimony to that.

lyrics-al-qazzaz

Muḥammad ʿUbāda al-Qazzāz (born 902)

This poet was famous mainly for the muwashshahat that are attributed to him in the books of literary records on Al-Andalus, and not much else is known about him. He wrote on various subjects and themes but what distinguishes him is his minimalist style to using diction and imaginary.
