We are pleased to announce the CD release of “NUR: A Musical Journey in Sufi Poetry” featuring vocalist DALAL ABU AMNEH, composer KINAN ABOU-AFACH, and AL-BUSTAN TAKHT: Kinan Abou-afach on cello/oud, Hafez Kotain on tar frame drum, and Hanna Khoury on violin/viola.
Initiated by Dalal Abu Amneh, this project seeks to re-remember and re-embrace the humanism of Sufi poetry for our current times. Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture commissioned composer Kinan Abou-afach to create new music, in collaboration with Dalal Abu Amneh, presenting lyrical and spiritual aspects of Sufi poetry sung in Arabic. As a lantern illuminates a dimmed path, we hope Nur may serve as a beacon for a hopeful future.
