In July 2014 Al-Bustan hosted guest artist Joan Baz from Lebanon. In collaboration with Al-Bustan Camp teachers — Tremain Smith (Art), Hafez Kotain and Kinan Abou-afach (Music) and Brahim El Gabli (Arabic) — Ms. Baz guided the campers in a series of activities in which they explored aspects of their identity and what home means to them. Through storytelling, visual art, and music-making, campers reflected on and created artworks that speak about both their individual and collective identities.

Inspired by Ms. Baz’s recent counting book titled “I Went Looking for Palestine But I Found,” the campers’ works was compiled in a multimedia book in a counting format titled “We went looking for Home but we found.”
