Join us in celebrating the work of our Arab Arts Afterschool Program at Moffet Elementary.
Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture brings together the Moffet School/Kensington community for a special event to celebrate the work of the Moffet drummers, choir members, and visual artists in the Arab Arts After-school program.
Al-Bustan’s nine-year partnership with the Moffet School community is marked by the success of the Arab Arts After-school program. In its current expanded form, students participate in singing, drumming, and visual arts three days per week from September to June.
The garden event will include performances by the talented Moffet drummers led by Master Percussionist Hafez Kotain, Moffet singers led by Choir Director Serge El Helou, a display of the students’ artwork led by teaching artists Lisa Volta and Nancy Sophy, and a performance by Hanna Khoury, Hafez Kotain and Serge El Helou.
Kensington community members are invited to bring something savory or sweet to share in the multicultural potluck and participate in the free arts activities led by partnering organizations. The event will also showcase and celebrate student achievements in other Moffet arts enrichment programs offered by community partners Taller Puertorriqueño, Astral Artists, and Philadelphia Photo Arts Center.
