As we approach the end of 2018, we reflect on the many ways that Al-Bustan has enriched our community…
… from the youth who participated in creating An Immigrant Alphabet and serve as mentors to a younger generation; the middle schoolers who are recent immigrants learning English and the arts in our program with the School District of Philadelphia; the campers who shared their culture and learned about the historic Silk Route… to the audiences who appreciated themes of displacement, home and identity through new poetry, a mural in West Philly and music in Philadelphia and Princeton; as well as the general public who can enjoy the 26 banners of An Immigrant Alphabet currently on display at Cherry Street Pier.
We are only able to offer this range of educational and performance programs with the continued generosity of individuals like you!
Please support the crucial work that Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture provides in our community with a gift before December 31!
Your gift will make a difference:
- $50 provides supplies for two art classes for the 24 students in the Moffet Arab Arts After-School Program
- $100 supports two Northeast High School students to present in schools across Philadelphia about their experience in creating #iAlphabet
- $250 provides one round-trip bus for students from Moffet Elementary in Kensington or from Northeast High to our performances in Center City
- $500 compensates two artists for their time teaching after-school at Moffet Elementary
- $1,000 provides full scholarship for two students to attend Al-Bustan Camp
