Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture and Philadelphia History Museum are pleased to present
(DIS)PLACED Public Forum #2
A participatory afternoon exploring stories of place and displacement, with conversations, poetry, music, and food
Date: Saturday April 22, 2017
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: Philadelphia History Museum | 15 South 7th St | Old City
Tickets: FREE – Click here for Required RSVP
While our first Public Forum focused on conversations around arrival in Philadelphia and starting a new home, our second Forum continues conversations with Philadelphia residents about their journeys to here — as compiled by writer Ann de Forest and photographer Dave Tavani. Nazem El Sayed (poet) and Kinan Abou-afach (composer/cellist) will present a half-hour music-poetry interlude of new works, with Hafez Kotain (percussionist) and Hanna Khoury (violinist), and translations by Huda Fahkhreddine (literary scholar). Guest poets Fatemah Shams and Ahmad Almallah will read their poetry, followed by audience participation in compiling a collective poem, and ending with refreshments from local restaurants.
Major support for (DIS)PLACED project is provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. Additional support by Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and partner Penn Global.
