In an effort to provide a way to appreciate the music of Umm Kulthum’s era, Al-Bustan has created an online tool for teaching and learning the song Yalli zara’tu-I burtu’an (Those Who Gather the Oranges). Composed by famed Egyptian musician/composer Mohammed Abdel Wahab who was a contemporary of Umm Kulthum, the song celebrates the harvesting of oranges and country life.
The online tool includes melodic, rhythmic, vocal, and diction tracks to facilitate learning the song, along with music notation, lyrics, and lesson plans for educators.
