From Our Audience

WA-audience

We are always eager to hear from our audience… here is what some attendees told us after the Dec 5th concert:

I enjoyed the encounter of old and new traditions.  It was an excellent and exciting performance.  It is very important in present times for the American public to be exposed to the beauty and depth of Arabic language and culture.

The idea of having the Crossing participating in this with original compositions to bring both traditions together was a great one. It carries the spirit of Andalusian era. I of course enjoyed Dalal’s role in it as well. I live 5 hours away, the idea of the project was the main motive for me to attend. -Hammam A.

It was unique; a rare opportunity to experience this musical and poetic form.  Surprisingly enjoyable to my “western ears.”

Having The Crossing participate in this with original compositions to bring both traditions together was a great one. It carries the spirit of Andalusian era.  Fascinating, exciting, creative, and very entertaining!

We had just returned from Andalusia and were quite excited about new music stimulated by poetry from Al-Andalus.  The musicianship of both Al-Bustan Takht Ensemble and The Crossing was extraordinarily wonderful. -Susan M.

I enjoyed the amazing tapestry of sound woven by such highly talented musicians! –Marlis K.

It was beautiful music.  The soloist had an exceptional voice and emotional presentation.  It was a learning experience about heart felt poetry from hundreds of years ago.  I look forward to attending your next concert and sharing the experience with friends.
